Renting textbooks
Most of the material found in landfills is paper. Books are the biggest contributor to paper products. It is found that when paper degrades it emits methane gas which is a green house gas and has more heat trapping power than carbon di oxide, which in short means, it is not good for the environment. Also, just consider the amount of trees that are cut down for paper used in these books and how it is impacting the environment. Does not it make sense to look for other options which are more eco friendly? As textbooks have new editions every two years, reusing educational textbooks is very difficult. So students should think of alternative options.
One option is to download books content from the internet to your computer and refer it regularly. This way student will not have to carry hard bound books around. Another option is to rent college textbooks which will save money as the cost of renting textbook will be half the price you would have paid to buy a new textbook. Moreover, this practice is environmental friendly also, as you are disposing less paper. Most students do not require books after a term is over, so it makes sense to rent textbooks. Textbook rentals save a lot of money which is a big concern for students.
